Marin Cilic pleased his home crowd today as he was able to clinch the needed win for his nation to go to the semis of the event. He faced James Blake and won with a score of 63 63 46 62.
It has been 4 years since Croatia has been to the semifinals when in 2005 they captured the Davis Cup title. Israel had to play two more "dead" rubbers and finished with a total score of 4-1, while the Czech Republic featuring Radek Stepanek upset Argentina in the decider. Defending champions Spain have also stole the decider from Germany when Juan Carlos Ferrero won to Andreas Beck.
Spain will face Israel, and Czech Republic will face Croatia in the semifinals when they take place on September 18.
