French tennis player Mathieu Montcourt has unexpectedly died at the age of 24. Montcourt was found dead by his girlfriend in the stairwell of his Paris apartment
Montcourt was ranked 119th in the world and reached a high ranking of 104 in the world after reaching the second round of Roland Garros, where he lost to Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic in four sets.
He has been banned for 5 weeks and fined $12,000 for betting on other matches in August 2008.
The cause of death is unknown, and an autopsy will be carried out to determine the cause.

Tests reveal that Montcourt died of a heart attack. Toxicology tests were negative.
