On the first day at the Indianapolis Tennis Championships, the seeds got off to a good start as third seeded American Sam Querrey had a solid win over Arnaud Clement in the first round. The score was 63 64. Ernests Gulbis had another poor start as he was beaten by seventh seeded Marc Gicquel with a simple score of 62 63. Gulbis has not gone further than the second round at any tournament he played this year. Another American John Isner also won his first round match by beating Frenchman Josselin Ouanna with a score of 61 76(5), though it was pretty close in the tiebreak.
The International German Open highlights had a majority of qualifiers and wildcards make it through to the second round today.
