Safin survives Gulbis challenge, advances to quarters in LA

Day 3 in Los Angeles was a good one for eighth seeded Marat Safin, who has beaten Ernests Gulbis after being a set and a break down, and advanced to the quarterfinals, while third seeded Dmitry Tursunov went sailing out after being held back by an injury.
Safin had a tough match against the Latvian, and won the match with a score of 26 63 64.
Turnosov was escorted out by qualifier Carsten Ball, as the Australian was leading 64 01 when the Russian retired due to a left ankle injury.
Top seed Tommy Haas has demolished Jesse Levine and won the match 61 63.

In Gstaad, Switzerland, third seeded Igor Andreev won to Jan Hernych 64 60, and fifth seeded Jeremy Chardy ousted Mikhail Youzhny with a score of 63 57 63.
