The Swedish crowd got a real treat today as their favourite and second seeded Robin Soderling got to the quarters of the event after swiftly easing past Belgium's Kristof Vliegen with a score of 62 63.
Tommy Robredo showed off his mojo too with a win over Peter Luczak having the score of 62 63 as well.Former Grand Slam champion and world number one Marat Safin didn't satisfy his chances of winning another title before retiring after this season is over, after he lost in the first round over fifth seeded Nicolas Almagro with a score of 63 76(6). Safin has not won an ATP singles title since winning the Australian Open in 2005.
At the Mercedes Open the fourth seed Victor Hanescu defeated German Rainer Schuettler, who has reached the Australian Open final in 2003 and surprised people at Wimbledon last year with a road to the semifinals before losing to eventual champion Rafael Nadal. Anyway, Hanescu won with a score of 62 61.
