On Day 2 of the Wimbledon Championships, Andy Murray went to four sets in his debut match, while fifth seeded Juan Martin del Potro who took Rafael Nadal's place after he withdrew won his match against Arnaud Clement in easy straight sets.
Third seeded Murray had a tough time against Robert Kendrick, as he won the first set after a battle, lost the second set in a tiebreak, and won the next two sets with ease. The final score was 75 67(3) 63 64.
"I was disappointed I lost the second set," admitted Murray. "In the whole match, I think he had two breakpoints on my serve. "When you're serving like that and not giving someone too many opportunities, it's easier to stay calm because you're the one that's always sort of creating the opportunities.
Del Potro easily demolished Clement with a score of 63 61 62, which took 1 hour in 37 minutes.
“I have a chance to do a good tournament,” said del Potro. “When I go into the court I always think [of] victory. Now I have a very good player in front of me, but I have my weapons. I have my game and I am confident and [will] try to beat him.”
