Tennis Hall of famer Wood dies

Sidney Wood, who in 1931 became the only uncontested winner of Wimbledon died today. He was 97.

He died in Palm Beach, Florida; and his opponent in the final of the 1931 championship was his countryman Frank Shields. Shield could not play because of an ankle injury.

He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1964 and had been the oldest living Hall of Famer. A memorial service is planned for spring.
