Federer and Djokovic win on Day 1

Well, the Aussie Open finally began, so lets get to business. The first Slam of the year is underway!

Roger Federer won his first match in three sets, but gave a bit of a rusty performance. Federer showed superb form to win the first set, but the other two were less than perfect from the Swiss master. He managed to win it with a score of 61 76(4) 75, managing to save a set point in the second set.

Djokovic took to his title defence with a win over Andrea Stoppini of Italy with a score of 62 63 75. other winners of the day include Andy Roddick, Juan Martin del Potro and David Ferrer who had to battle it out in a marathon against Denis Gremelmayr of Germany.
