World number two Rafael Nadal made it to the third round at the Montreal Masters after his opponent David Ferrer got a knee injury. Nadal got a bit lucky in his first match back since losing at Roland Garros, spending only 36 minutes on court and was up a break at 4-3 in his favor. He will next face Philipp Petzschner who took out fifteenth seeded Tommy Robredo.
Other seeds who also made it to the next round include Andy Roddick, Juan Martin del Potro and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga with Roddick and del Potro advancing in straight sets but Tsonga having to sort his match out in three sets against Rainer Schuettler.
