Roger Federer had a close call against Fernando Verdasco after Verdasco won the first set and pressured the four-time Tour Finals champion in the second set. But Federer stepped up a bit and Verdasco started to quickly crumble and allowed Roger Federer to win it in three sets with a score of 46 75 61.
Home favourite Andy Murray also made a winning start to his campaign and got the better of Juan Martin del Potro by winning the match in three sets as well with the score of 63 36 62. Del Potro had to call the trainer for a nose bleed in the first set but otherwise had no signs of his abdominal injury from the Paris Masters.
Tomorrow's headlines include Rafael Nadal who will face Robin Soderling, the man who ended his French Open run this year. And also, Novak Djokovic who will face Nikolay Davydenko.
