Djokovic ends Monfils dream run

Novak Djokovic has won his 16th career title, his 5th of the year and his second consecutive title after last week winning in Basel to Roger Federer. Djokovic had to work really hard against Gael Monfils, who was enjoying all the support of the French crowd. Djokovic was in control in the first set and took it 62, then took an early break in the second leaving spectators with no hope of a French champion this year, but Monfils then turned on his fire-power and battled to take the second set 75. The French crowd then roared with happiness and was once again filled with hope, but Djokovic took a 3-0 lead in the third and Monfils once again appealed to his crowd by taking it to a tie-break where he could no longer bring it. Djokovic took the tie-break with a score of 7-3 and is now full of confidence ahead of the year-ending championships taking place in London on November 22.
