Roger Federer started his US Open 2009 campaign for his sixth straight title with a three set win over American wildcard Devin Britton. The American posed no threat to the number one as Federer wrapped up a win with a score of 61 63 75. He will meet Germany's Simon Greul in the second round.
Andy Roddick had a late night yesterday as he started his match at 11 pm local time and finished shortly before 1 am. Roddick stayed sharp throughout his match and didn't let Germany's Bjorn Phau have any chances to pressure him. He won with a score of 61 64 62.
Other winners of the day include James Blake, Nikolay Davydenko, Tommy Haas and Robin Soderling.
