Djokovic wins; Robredo overcomes Safin
Novak Djokovic had a little trouble in the first set against Spanish Albert Montanes but managed to close it out at 7-5 in the tie-breaker. The second set was complete demolition... for Montanes as Djokovic gave no chances to take the second set 60.
Tommy Robredo got through a thriller today as he denied Marat Safin a win. Safin was up 62 41 30-Love, and then suddenly bounced back to turn it around with a victory. The final score was 26 76(5) 62 and gets Robredo to the second round.
Other winners include Fernando Gonzalez, Mardy Fish and Ernests Gulbis. Sam Querrey didn't have such a good time as he went out in the first round.

Nadal wins 5th straight Barcelona title
In a repeat of last year's final at Barcelona, Rafael Nadal took a lead in the first set after breaking Ferrer in the third and fifth games. The second set saw both players broken twice, with Ferrer handling Nadal's groundstrokes impressively. But Nadal was able to break in the 11th game of the set and a game later to clinch his 5th straight title in the Catalan city and his 35th career title.
Nadal next will head to Rome for the Masters event there and is the strong favourite to capture the French Open which starts at the end of May.

Superb Djokovic and Murray into final in Miami
Novak Djokovic gave former world number one Roger Federer a big surprise by beating him today, even with a 2-7 head to head record. It is now a 7-3 head to head record in Federer's favor, but today Djokovic definitely outwitted Federer. Federer had a 5-1 lead in the first set, then allowing Djokovic take two more games because of his miss-timing of the ball, especially from the forehand side which also set the tone for the rest of the match. The second set was taken by Djokovic with a 6-2 score. The last set saw Federer smash his racquet in a rare outburst of anger, which then allowed Djokovic to take advantage of the situation and seal victory after Federer made another forehand error wide. The final score was 36 62 63.
Djokovic will face Andy Murray in the final who also had to pull off a hard fought win against Juan Martin del Potro who beat Rafael Nadal yesterday. Murray won the clash 61 57 62. Djokovic has an advantage of a 4-2 lead in the head to head record going into the final on Sunday.
