Djokovic and Almagro victorious; Fish into final

Novak Djokovic showed his power once again as he faced David Ferrer in the final at the Barclays Dubai Championships. The Serb and Spaniard both showed great tennis in the first set, with Djokovic slipping to a score of 75 63. The second set was much easier for Djokovic, as finished it with an ace that had to be challenged on the Hawk-Eye.
Nicolas Almagro shared the same fate as Djokovic, by clinching the title in Acapulco, Mexico over Gael Monfils. Almagro surprised all with a 64 64 win over second seeded Monfils.

Djokovic and Murray storm to the quarters

Both top seeds Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray got themselves to the next level in Dubai after Djokovic defeated Jan Hernych in a little bit of a test, and Murray didn't have any trouble brushing off Arnaud Clement. Djokovic won 63 36 64 and Murray won 62 63. The most exciting match to watch though was when Richard Gasquet battled against Simone Bolelli. The encounter took 3 hours and 3 minutes, and Gasquet finished it in superb fashion --- an ace. The score was 67(4) 63 76(5).
While in Delray Beach, Florida Sam Querrey was ousted by Christophe Rochus of Belgium. The Belgian had no trouble with Querrey's serve and took him out 64 61.

Murray works harder than expected for a win

Andy Muuray looked rusty in his first round match against Ukranian Sergiy Stakhovsky. The Ukranian showed his big game in the first set and took it 7-3 in the tiebreak. The next two were all Murray as he took the second set 63, but was unable to seal full victory since Stakhovsky retired at 5-3 in the third set. Hopefully his next round match will be more solid.
While in Delray Beach, Florida Stefan Koubek of Austria who won the tournament in the past, made his way to the second round as he eased past American Bobby Reynolds with a 64 63 score. Sam Querrey also got the better of Guillermo Canas as he took him out with a 76(3) 64 victory.

Seeds conquer at SA Open and Movistar Open... just not Zagreb

At the SA Open the top two seeds took control from the start with both Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and David Ferrer winning their matches in straight sets. In Vina del Mar, Chile at the Movistar Open seventh seeded Agustin Calleri took out former Gold Medalist Nicolas Massu with a score of 76(4) 61, and some qualifiers jumped to the next round. While in Zagreb, Croatia disappointment was seen too soon from the top seed, as Igor Andreev lost easily to a Croatian qualifier.

The Wizard of Oz is.... Rafael Nadal!

After 2 weeks of tremendous play at this year's Australian Open, it all came down to the final round with the top two seeds battling it out in a five-setter. The ending result was history, whether it went to one opponent or the other. Roger Federer was on one side and Rafael Nadal was on the other. But this time it went to Rafael Nadal

Nadal officially made history today, by becoming the first Spaniard to win the Australian Open. If the victory would have gone to Federer, he would have equalled Sampras' record of 14 Grand Slams. The final score was 75 36 76(3) 36 62, and now Nadal only needs to win the US Open to complete a Golden Slam.

Bravo, Nadal!
